My Grandmother passed in December. My grandfather passed 7 years ago. My relative attempted going to a bank and take money out of an account beloging to my grandfather. The primary recipient upon death on the money market account is my grandfather (deceased) and the secondary is me.

My grandparents raised me as a child and put my name as the secondary person entitled to the monies. My last name has since then changed.

The executor of the estate wants to take the monies and add them to the estsate. Can she do this. Am I legally entitled to the account?

I am in the military and am currently deployed.

    Hi Micheal

Thanks for the e-mail, I’m sorry and undersyand your in a tough position both from a loss and now being unsure about others motives, all while away.

Can you tell me more please!

Is the money still in the grandfathers name?

How were the accounts structured? Joint with you, joint with each other Grandparent? It makes a large difference.

    Thanks for your time

    Randy
